Ribbon Back Top

Back to the customization's we go! I think after this one there is still 2 more that I have to show you guys. (Ye, I've been a little busy this summer)
Okay, so again I started out with a plain white top and tie-dyed it. I'm pretty sure you that if you're a regular reader of mine you will know how to tie-dye. If not then you can look back on some of my older posts and you will see. (its pretty easy once you've done it once I promise)

Step 1: Equipment
- T-shirt
- Dyes
- Elastic Bands
- Gloves
- Ribbon
- Wooden Awl
- Cutting mat
- Knife
- Pins

Step 2: Tie-dye
Like I said, I'm not going to show you again but if you are unsure, just look back at some of my older posts:)

Step 3: Making it more interesting...
I decided that I wanted to make the top more interesting so I thought I could make the back look like a corset back with the ribbon woven through it so..
- Put a cutting mat inside the top
- Use a craft knife to cut a slit down the back, DO NOT cut all the way down

- There is now a slit down the back

Step 4: Ribbon Holes
- Keep the cutting mat inside the top
- Take your wooden awl (you can buy these online here) and push through the fabric to create little holes

- Continue all the way down to the end of your slit

Step 5: Add the ribbon
- To make life a little bit easier put pins through the ends of your ribbon so that you can pull it through the holes easily

 - Pull the ribbon through the holes
- Pull it as tight as you want or have it lose if you want, that's personal preference

- Keep going all the way down
- Tie in a bow at the bottom and cut off the extra ribbon

Ta-dah! Okay, I know its a bit off center and not quite perfect but for my first try I'm quite pleased with that!:)
What do you think of my tutorial? Did it make sense? Was it easy to follow? Any hints, tips or advice would be great!

sight seeing

So, I've been doing a lot of fashion/DIY/ect. posts recently so I decided to take a little step back from them and show you what photographs I've been taking recently on my new (beautiful) camera...

 Nikon Coolpix

From the top floor on the shopping center car park there is a great view of most of the city. And although it was a bit of a minging day, its nothing a little bit of personal editing cant fix. So I hope you enjoy my photos of my city! (Dundee, Scotland by the way)

What do you think? Quite obvious that I like towers, church's, steeples ect. right?
Also, I have signed up for an evening class called the Blue Sky Photo Club at the DCA which starts in late September to try to improve my photography skills. I look forward to showing you guys my projects and (hopefully) my progress!

Circus

So, recently my boyfriend and I went to see the Netherlands National Circus, and wow was it great! It's the first time I've been to see the circus since I was a little girl. It's actually the only circus I've been to that I can remember!
Now I'm afraid we weren't allowed to take photos but you guys should totally check out their website: The Netherlands National Circus
Now I didn't really know what was appropriate to wear to the circus? What would you suggest?
I decided I wanted to dress nicely, but not fancy and still have my personal style thrown in. So, this is what I came up with...
Dress - Wallis
Coat - USC
Necklace - Newlook
Tights - Primark

What do you guys think? What would you wear to the circus?

Black T Phase 2

Okay, so last night I completed the customization's on my black t-shirt from the last post. In this phase I added studs to the t-shirt!
Here's how I did it..

Step 1: Equipment
- The t-shirt (obviously)
- Your chosen studs (I got mine from a great ebay shop! here)
- Pliers

Step 2: Adding the studs
- Push the studs through the fabric until you can see the fasteners on the underside of the fabric (below)
- Okay now you need to use your pliers. You DO NOT need to open them. Just use the flat edge of the pliers to push the fasteners down to secure the stud.

Step 3: Repeat
- Ta-dahh!
- Now that you've done one you just need to repeat it to complete your garment!

- Finished product (below)

Now my top is complete! Tell me what you think? Did you find my instructions easy to understand? I've tried my best to keep them simple. Tell me your opinion :)
